Feeling bored with your old chairs? Here’s how to up-cycle them with a playful, shabby chic inspired makeover that’s both rustic and feminine.  

1. Source a chair that you find drab. It can be an old hand-me-down or something you’ve spotted at an antiques bazaar
2. Strip your chair of polish and, if required, have the cushioning redone
3. Use an antique inspired pait technique in nautical white or pastel
4. Re-upholster in vintage inspired colours such as robin’s egg blue, lilac, dusky pink, daffodil, champagne gold

Shabby chic goes great with soft, feminine furnishings, antique pieces, soft linens, faded florals, wicker, lace, old mirrors and vintage crystal, plenty of cheery whites.
