6 Tips for A Gorgeous Décolleté!

November 18, 2015

The décolleté is the part of your upper chest that includes your neck, cleavage and shoulder area. The word is French and literally translates to “wearing a low-neck dress”. It’s one of the most visible yet most commonly unattended parts of our body. The décolleté is usually second in line after the face when it comes to precaution and care which is alarming since it requires more care and attention. The skin on the décolleté is thinner and less pliable with fewer oil glands than the face, making it more susceptible to wrinkling prematurely and becoming hyperpigmented. Read up and follow these tips for a gorgeous and ageless décolleté:

Using a loofah, or exfoliating gloves or even your hands, whilst in the shower, use our Dead Sea Body Scrub. Make sure to scrub gently since the skin in this area is so thin and delicate. Move in circular, upward motions. Do this no more that 3-4 times a week to avoid over-exfoliating.

Choose from one of our skincare products that are all excellent in combating hyperpigmentation and are good for all skin types and we also tell you how to use them:

Better than Ubtan Face and Body Scrub with Radiance Oil:

Add 1 teaspoon of Better Than Ubtan Face & Body Scrub in a bowl. Add half teaspoon of cream and one teaspoon of milk or yogurt. Add 4 drops of Conatural Radiance Oil Blend. Mix into a thick paste. Let the mixture sit for three to four minutes before application. Apply onto décolleté and massage in upward circular motions. Leave mixture for 2-3 minutes so that it settles on skin. Rub in circular motions until mixture becomes flaky and falls of skin. Rinse off with water.  (Do not use if you have acne prone skin).

Instant Glow Face Mask with Radiance Oil:

Add one heaped teaspoon of Conatural Instant Glow Face Mask in a small bowl. Add one to two teaspoons of yogurt. Mix into a thick paste and apply to décolleté. Massage using circular movements for about a minute. Leave mask on for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Pat skin dry. See how your skin feels after ten minutes and then moisturize if necessary. Use mask once or twice a week for maximum benefit.

Saffron Complexion Builder:

An Ayurvedic gel based formulation containing pure saffron and indian madder that have been relied upon through the ages to lighten and brighten the complexion. It also regulates melanin production. Can be used morning and evening.

A little highlighter and bronzer can help give definition to the graceful lines of your neck and collarbones. Accentuate the raised areas of your collarbones with highlighter and the depressed area with bronzer. Some bronzer right below the line of your face also helps to bring out a more defined shape to your chin.

The delicate skin on your décolleté is almost always exposed to the sun’s harmful radiation and is the quickest to develop sun spots and discoloration. Make sure to always follow up your moisturiser with a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 even when you’re indoors because sunlight will literally follow you everywhere. Look for products with natural oils like apricot and jojoba (as found in our Essential Day Cream) that provide SPF without clogging the pores the way titanium dioxide or zinc oxide does.

Since there are so few oil glands in the neck and décolleté, it’s imperative to moisturise regularly and thoroughly! Here are our recommendations on which products do the job the best:

Essential Day Cream:

Packed with Organic Jojoba and Organic Apricot kernel oils which are similar to the skin's natural oils, this cream absorbs quickly and moisturises and protects throughout the day. Aloe vera and Vitamin E limit damage due to sun exposure and help to bring out newer, brighter cells. Apply on neck and décolleté every morning after cleansing and before applying any makeup.

Advanced Super Revitalise Whitening Cream:

This cream is specially formulated with Dead Sea Minerals, Natural Fruits Extracts and Vitamin E and can be used for all skin types. It is the vital aid to flawless skin. The formula is effective in lightening skin, and diminishing dark spots and pigmentation marks whilst both energizing and hydrating the skin on your décolleté. Use every evening before bedtime.

Sleeping in the wrong position is one of the highest contributing causes to wrinkles on not just your décolleté but on your face as well. Sleeping on your back will ensure that the skin on your neck and around your bust line does not prematurely wrinkle. This is super important since we do spend 60% of our time sleeping, at least most of us do!
